Large residential new developments are now required to submit Waste Management Plans to the Department of Sanitation (DSNY). Such waste management plans must be submitted to DSNY the same time construction plans are submitted to DOB.
Waste management plans are required for:
- residential buildings with 150 units or more
- existing multiple dwellings when the floor surface area is increased by 110% or more
- commercial buildings that are changed to multiple dwellings for 50% or more of the building
