OneLIC Neighborhood Plan Receives NYC City Council Approval

Over 10,000 new apartments, more than 4,300 additional units of affordable housing, and commercial, educational, and transit-related projects will be allowed in Long Island City, thanks to a recently passed rezoning initiative. The OneLIC Neighborhood Plan is the fifth city rezoning since 2020 and the largest city rezoning initiative in over 20 years. Spanning across 54 city blocks and over 3.7 million square feet, the OneLIC Neighborhood Plan aims to:

  • Create more housing for people at a range of income levels
  • Meet the infrastructure and community needs of a growing neighborhood while reducing climate impacts
  • Make it easier for Long Island City residents to access neighborhood resources and amenities
  • Create a connected, resilient, and accessible waterfront from Gantry State Park to Queensbridge Park
  • Support the diversity and vitality of Long Island City’s unique and thriving economy by creating more than 14,000 jobs

The OneLIC Neighborhood Plan creates significant opportunities for owners and developers, with tremendous potential benefits for Long Island City. Now that the plan has been approved, we anticipate that development will move quickly.
