The City has revised the requirements for construction fences at sites where work has been stopped for two years or more.
A registered design professional must certify that all construction or demolition equipment and material has been removed from the site or properly secured. Then a chain link fence must be installed and maintained to secure the stalled construction site. Prior to resuming work, the chain link fence must be replaced with the standard solid construction fence as required by Code
This change was enacted by Local Law 74 of 2021 on June 27th, 2021 and takes effect 180 days after enactment on December 24th, 2021. The new regulation for chain link fences applies to sites where work has been stopped for two continuous years after December 24th, 2021.
