Dynamic Accessibility Symbol

Dynamic Accessibility Symbol

The 2022 NYC Construction Codes enacted many changes throughout the Code. One of those updates required the use of the dynamic accessibility symbol in several locations in a building. Accessibility advocates have been promoting the use of the dynamic accessibility symbol as symbol to better illustrate differing abilities and emphasize the person rather than the wheelchair.

Accessible signage requirements are applicable to new installations. The dynamic accessibility symbol is required at accessible parking spaces, accessible toilet rooms, accessible building entrances, accessible seating, and other locations as per 2022 NYC Building Code section 1111.1.
