New York City’s annual Holiday Embargo is fast-approaching. If you’re new to the embargo, it’s a period from before Thanksgiving through New Year’s during which routine construction work in certain locations is suspended unless a waiver is received from the City Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Office of Construction Mitigation and Coordination (OCMC).
The holiday embargo period for 2024 will be from 6 AM to 11:59 PM from Friday, November 15, 2024, through Thursday, January 2, 2025.
A list of the embargoed locations is available on the DOT website.
In prior years, requests for waivers from the embargo were required to be submitted by a certain date. This year, there is no deadline for submitting an emergency waiver. Waiver applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, though, so we recommend applying for a waiver as soon as possible.
