In keeping with our summer theme, Design wanted to talk about Summer Streets and Construction Embargoes.

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of NYC’s most valuable public space – the streets.  Starting this Saturday and for three consecutive Saturdays thereafter between the hours of 7:00 am and 1:00 pm, approximately 7 miles will be opened for the public to play, run, walk and bike.  To see the route and activities, click here.

Construction Embargo – A special event construction embargo is in effect for the 2015 Summer Streets event which will be in effect between the hours of 12:01 am to 6:00 pm on August 1st, 8th and 15th. Only emergency work may be performed provided an emergency number is received from the New York City Department of Transportation.  This embargo includes restrictions on Utility Cover Access openings except for emergencies on event dates. Any non-emergency permits are suspended for the dates and locations where construction embargoes are in effect.
